Ipswich Residence

Located on the shoreline just north of Boston is the idyllic dream location for our client’s new home. In close collaboration with architect Art Dioli of Olson Lewis Architects, we worked to design the perfect transitional shingle style home for our clients. Complete with details such as exposed granite foundation, sweeping wrap-around covered porch, metal and shingle roofing materials as well as plenty of ocean views.

The ocean facing side of this home was designed to take full advantage of the ever changing views with a full walk-out basement level, private covered kitchen porch, sun room, side entrance blue stone patio area and second floor master suite.

Side entry mud room designed with handmade brick floor tiles and custom built-ins.

The entry level living space is a combination of custom built-ins, transitional soft seating and tables, all anchored by one of the client’s own antique handwoven area rugs. The gray stained wide plank hickory floors run throughout the first and second floors creating another unifying element.

The kitchen combines beautiful architectural details, custom cabinetry, solid wood butcher block island counter top and dark granite surrounding counters, finished with a custom upholstered breakfast nook area.

Private covered kitchen lounging porch with glass balustrade panels.

The pantry was on the client’s wish list, featuring root vegetable drawers, dark granite counters, hand glazed backsplash tiles and plenty of dry goods and small appliance storage.

Architectural details continue throughout the open living space into the dining area with a coffered ceiling and a custom solid pine wet bar. The pine built-ins coordinate with the entry doors and other architectural millwork details throughout the home. The fully mirrored backsplash offers every dinner guest ocean views no matter where they are seated. A custom bordered area rug anchors the client’s own dining table and upholstered chairs.

The powder room / half bath features a wall mounted walnut vanity and mirror set floating atop a wall of slate mosaic tiles.

Main stairwell with ocean views, contemporary pendant and plenty of millwork details.

The ocean facing master suite features a full height granite black fireplace, custom millwork window seat areas and wall to wall wool herringbone carpeting. A fully integrated walk-in dressing room with mahogany built-ins expands the architectural details throughout the suite.

The master bathroom was designed with a floating double sink vanity constructed of a gray pickled oak, quartz counter tops and a fully integrated hydro-spa with water views.

The guest bathroom features a floating double sink vanity with a lacquer finish complimented by linen patterned porcelain floor tile.

The walk-out basement level features a wine cellar, home office, entertainment lounge and a walk-out bathroom with indoor and outdoor showers. The wine cellar is a combination of old and new materials adding to the architectural details of the home. Wide plank cedar was used on the walls and ceiling, stainless steel bottle racks and a feature wall of antique barn beams and granite complete the space.
